Sennheiser is a name synonymous with high quality audio equipment. They have announced a new product called the Ambeo Smart headset that allows you to record high quality binaural audio onto an iPhone. Typically, I dismiss anything that says “high quality” and “iPhone” in the same sentence as we all know smart phones are not known for recording high quality audio. However, in this case, Sennheiser teamed up with Apogee to make a product that has the mic pre and the A/D converter happen before the audio even gets to the phone, so the phone just becomes a bit bucket, which is perfect. In this video I give a run down on the features and give some listening examples.
